Maintenance & Troubleshooting

What should I check if my Cassette Style Retractable screen is not running smoothly?
- When not in use, the Artilux fly screen should be retracted into the protective cassette.
- The Soft Closing mechanism prevents the unit from retracting suddenly. To operate, release the handle and allow the screen to slowly retract into the cassette. Do not push the screen back into the cassette. If necessary, gently guide the mesh back into the cassette.
- It is possible for the mesh to “blow out” in windy conditions. Should this occur, ensure the mesh is placed back evenly and crease free into the tracts, then retract the system back into the cassette.
- Check the unit has been installed level, square and plumb to the opening.
- Check the tension on the unit. (CAUTION – The unit is spring loaded) To increase tension release the spring end cap and turn the end cap anti clockwise to set tension or clock wise to release tension. DO NOT adjust the tension on the soft closing mechanism.
- Tracks must be clear of dirt and debris which may catch on the mesh or brushes and may cause the system to perform poorly.
- Check for creases in the mesh which may effect the operation of the unit.
- Check the handle end caps and mesh run smoothly through the tracks and weather pile brush. Apply silicon based lubricant to the tracks if necessary.
- Ensure the fixing screws used to secure the tracks are counter sunk. If the head of the screw protrudes it may interfere with operation of the unit
- Check that the cassette has been well secured to the opening.
- Ensure the cassette has not been jammed too tightly into the opening, this may put too much pressure on the end caps. If this is the case slightly loosen the fixing screw to remove some pressure on the end caps.
What should I check if my Retractable Pleated fly screen is not running smoothly?
- When not in use, the Artilux Alfresco pleated screen should pushed back to the retracted position.
- Check the unit has been installed level, square and plumb to the opening.
- Ensure the cords running in the top and bottom track are parallel to each other and not crossed over, knotted or tangled.
- Check the tension on the cords running in the top and bottom track. If necessary make an adjustment to the knot positioned behind the cord fitting inserted inside the top and bottom tracks.
- To set smooth sliding operation, adjust the guides by moving them closer or further away from the top and bottom tracks.
- Tracks must be clear of dirt and debris which may catch on the threads and may cause system to perform poorly.
- Check that the system has been well secured to the opening.
